World Ocean Day

World Ocean Day

Healthy and resilient oceans and coastal communities are critical for a thriving blue economy that creates jobs and safeguards our nation from the impacts of climate change.

Silloth Green runs immediately adjacent to the coast, with amazing views across the Solway Firth to Scotland.  The fast flowing waters of the Solway Firth are home to many species of fish that are not only of importance to us, but also create a rich feeding ground for waders and seabirds.  We’re also lucky enough to see the occasional grey seal and also porpoises. The Solway Firth is an important area for conservation and is designated as a Special Area of Conservation, a Special Protection Area and Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Our climate is changing, and our oceans are suffering. It’s time to take some serious #OceanClimateAction. Join us and people around the world by signing in support of the global movement to protect 30% of our lands and ocean by 2030. Together we can #Protect30x30: http://bit.ly/30x30WOD
