Volunteers Needed for Silloth Green Community Garden

Anna Malina is now working with Friends of the Green to find volunteers to help plan and care for Silloth Green’s community garden, situated on the corner of Criffle Street and Lawn Terrace.   The volunteers will be asked to come up with ideas for the garden and a designer will advise and incorporate the ideas into a design that is appropriate for the Green’s soil and weather conditions. Training will also be available to ensure volunteers are confident in caring for the garden over a full twelve month period. Tenders from several garden designers have been received and further progress will be made after feedback is received from the Heritage Lottery Monitor, who gives permission for the release of dedicated funds. It would be great if more people could volunteer to help with this. Volunteers caring for the community garden will fulfil one of the criteria for the Green to gain a Green Flag Award.
