On 20th May 2012, one of the brightest sun drenched days in the year, the Green was officially re-opened after it had been modernised with over £1.2 million of funding. Residents and visitors alike enjoyed a fun filled family day after the red ribbon had been cut by Tiffany Hunt, Heritage Lottery Fund North West Regional Committee, Norman Clarkson, Cumbria County Council Chairman and Ely Baty, Mayor of Silloth. As the ribbon fell, the children ran on to the Green towards the splash pad and adventure play areas, whooping with delight. A great day’s entertainment was then had by all in brilliant sunshine!

Many thanks to Visit Cumbria, Cumbria County Council Media Team and our very own ‘Silloth Citizen Reporters’ – Lewis Graham, Joel baker, Reece Blake and Matthew Oliver – for all the photos of the day. Great job!!!
