Guidance for Visitors
Silloth Green … a welcoming place
The Green is a great place for the local community and visitors from all over the world to enjoy. It has been recognised as one of the best parks in the UK and has been awarded a Green Flag Award for the past three years. At 11.00am on Monday 31st August, Silloth Carnival Day, Cllr Bill Jefferson, Deputy Mayor and Chairman of the Parks Committee of Silloth Town Council, will raise the new Green Flag for 2015-16 during a short ceremony in the Community Garden (corner of Criffel St and Lawn Tce).
Silloth Town Council working with Friends of the Green, Silloth Tourism Action Group and other events organisations encourage local people and visitors from clubs, schools and organisations throughout Cumbria and beyond to visit. The Green Flag Award is an indication that local families and visitors are able to enjoy all the lovely areas and heritage features on the Green, including the ever popular Splash Pad, the Adventure Play area, Picnic Areas, the Community Garden on the corner of Criffel Street and Lawn Terrace, the BMX Track and the Victorian Pagoda. Note also the biodiversity project in the Heritage Garden, which has been newly planted with insect/bee loving plants and housing a Bee Pagoda/Bug Hut.
To keep the Green looking its best, we would ask that you:
- put litter in the bins provided or take it home to dispose of it
- pick up dog waste and dispose of it appropriately
- keep dogs off the splash pad and adventure play area
- treat all the facilities on the Green with care
- report any anti-social behaviour to the police
