First Aid and Risk Assessment Training
Free training courses available to anyone helping to organise or run events on Silloth Green
It’s always important to ensure public safety at events on the Green. To make sure everyone involved in organising/running events are well equipped with the right skills, the following courses are now available.
1 Day ‘Emergency First Aid at Work’ Course
Saturday 22nd February. This is a 6 hour course which meets the Health & Safety Executive requirements for ‘first aiders’ and covers vital signs of illness, bleeds, head injuries, choke, heart attack, angina, stroke, CPR and use of a defib machine, anaphylaxis and auto injector pens, asthma, diabetes etc all to a reasonable competence level. This comes with an Ofqual level 2 award which is equivalent to an NVQ level 2 and can be used on CVs as a qualification. It’s valid for 3 years.
1 Day ‘Risk Assessment’ Course
Sunday 23rd February 2014. This course is bespoke to the issues of event planning and is BTEC & Ofqual approved.
Both the above courses will be run in the Community Hall, Petteril Street, Silloth. Please note that all places MUST be booked in advance.
Alternatively, you might want to enrol in a more intensive course.
3 Day ‘First Aid at Work’ Course
This course includes a level 3 Ofqual award.
This in-depth course will be run in Carlisle over three days, 25th, 26th and 27th March, 2014. It’s advisable to book a place well in advance.
The trainer for all courses: Joanne Caffrey, Managing Director of Total Train and Safer Handling Training . The course content and the attendees are covered in regard to public and professional indemnity to safeguard the use of any techniques. Note: Joanne is registered as a national specialist for civil and criminal case use for litigation, and in addition to the course, she provides expert witness report cover which usually costs £500 for a basic opinion. However, should any of Joanne’s students find themselves at the centre of a dispute, she provides the ‘Expert’ report free of charge.
