Commonwealth Day 2021

Silloth-on-Solway Town Council will fly the Commonwealth Flag on Monday 8th March to mark Commonwealth Day 2021 and the friendship and goodwill that connect the 54 Commonwealth countries.

The celebrations, held on the second Monday of March each year, provides the opportunity for communities and organisations to promote the Commonwealth’s shared values of peace, democracy, equality and diversity.

Previously events were held across the nation to mark the day, including a service held at Westminster Abbey. However, in line with Covid-19 restrictions, in person celebrations will not be going ahead this year.

The Commonwealth theme of this year will be centred around the same theme as last year, which is ‘Delivering a Common Future’ – which highlights how the 54 member countries in the Commonwealth family are ‘innovating, connecting and transforming’ to help achieve some of its biggest goals, like fighting climate change, promoting good governance and boosting trade.
