Committees Elected to Save Town Events

Fantastic news!!! After a number of meetings around town, the new Vintage Rally and Carnival Committees have been elected, which means that future events will carry on. The Town’s Mayor, Tony Markley, is heading up the Vintage Rally while Mandy Kerr is leading on the Carnival  committee with dedicated help from others equally keen to keep these great events going. Events are the town’s life blood and take a good bit of organising. But they don’t just happen on their own as if by magic, as Eric Davenport, Diane Graham, John Hope, David Holding, the STAG Team, Friends of the Green and many others can testify. There are a great number of unsung heroes in the town, who put in masses of time and effort to organise and put local events on. There is, as usual, always room for more help. So, don’t be slow to step forward. If you have any time at all to spread some joy and support any of the events held in sunny Silloth, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with any events committee member, or email anna.malina@silloth-on-solway.co.uk (tel 016973 31816), and I’ll pass on any messages. It would be a great help. People who give some time to help with events on the Green can also book up for free training in Health & Safety and Risk Assessment, First Aid and other relevant courses.
